Configuring an inbound route to the Digital Receptionist
Once you've verified that the inbound route works, you most likely will want to send it to the digital receptionist. These instructions assume that you have the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) module installed and configured. If you don't, here's how to get the IVR module up and running. It also assumes that you have configured the Digital Receptionist. The following instructions will send all non-extension calls to the digital receptionist.
- From the FreePBX Setup menu, select Inbound Routes

- Give the new Inbound Route a name. I called it Digital Receptionist because that seems like a good name to call it

- Now it's time to set the destination for this inbound route. Notice that there are several options. We are going to set the destination to the "E227 Greeting" Digital Receptionist that I created earlier in the FreePBX - IVR option. You've most likely named it something else that relates to your system. If there is no IVR option than go back and set up the IVR module as detailed on the above link. If IVR is present but there are no pull-down options, go to Setting up the Digital Receptionist webpage.

- Submit,, "Apply Configuration Changes" and "Continue with Reload".

- To test, dial 7777 from any extension to simulate an incoming call. The Digital Receptionist should answer.
- Problem: If you test a Digital Receptionist menu option (press 1 for example) and the proper extension rings THEN you hangup before the extension is answered. You may find that the extension will keep ringing forever.
Solution: Enable voice mail on the extension. Voice mail will automatically answer the extension after 15 seconds.
