Setting up a Dahdi POTS line Extension

Setting up a Dahdi POTS line Extension

In order to setup a Dahdi POTS line extension. You need a FXS port. The most common type of FXS port is the Dahdi cards. The FXS port that this procedure uses is the Digium TDM400P card which our version has three FXS ports and one FXO port. After verifying that the Dahdi card is working properly (Testing Dahdi Hardware), you can configure an extension for it.

  1. The first step is to Create an Extension in FreePBX. you will be selecting a Generic ZAP device (as Asterisk transitions from Zaptel drivers to Dahdi compatibility mode, you will still see references to Zaptel):

  2. Next give it an extension number, name and indicate the Dahdi channel (determined from /etc/dadhi/system.conf):

  3. Submit and Update

Click on the Submit button and you will be returned to the Add Extension page. If this is the only extension that you are adding, you can apply your configuration changes to the Asterisk PBX. If you have other extensions to add, now's the time. Once you are ready to apply the new changes. Click on the new orange button titled "Apply Configuration Changes" at the top of the page:

  4. You will be asked to confirm that you want to "Continue with Reload", make it so!

Verify that it works by testing the connection. You are done.
