Installing a Junkyard Overflow Tank

Installing a Junkyard Overflow Tank

I needed a radiator coolant overflow tank to stop the excess coolant from dripping all over the place after topping off the radiator. It's also environmentally friendly so you don't pollute the earth. In my case it was dripping all over the garage! When you first top off a rad with coolant, the excess coolant gets drained out the radiator cap and it should go into a coolant overflow tank. When the engine cools, coolant gets sucked back into the rad. This way the rad is always at the perfect level of coolant.

I scoured the local wreckers and found that a mid 80s Toyota Corolla had a nice small corner mount overflow tank with a mounting block that could be easily modified. All I had to do was trim the mounting tab and drill two mounting holes in it. Then bolted it to the corner.
