Custom Backup Lights
I've been tossing around some ideas for backup lights but hadn't really seen anything that clicked yet. I came
across a set of halogen driving lights that are pretty small and may fit the bill. The lens have the right shape
that I've been looking for and 50W of lighting power will make sure that I can see behind me! ;-) I don't know
if I'll mount them on the bumpers or on the body yet. I'll wait until the bumpers are on the car and see what
looks best.
Minature 50W driving lights to be used as the backup lights from HELL! Haa Haa Haa!
I wanted to mount them underneath the brake lights but the body is too curved so I moved them in towards the trunk where the panel is flatter.
It looks good and worked out quite well

I made up a gasket out of some foam rubber. Made a template and cut it out - pretty simple. Now if it doesn't work, I'll go to my trusted Perametax
clear silicon to seal it.
Mounting the lights was a bit of a problem. Normally, they are mounted on little stands that bolt to the body or bumper. The stands are spot welded on
and the welds are easily broken off. I decided to use the old hose clamp as a mounting method. Simple and it works. Not as professional looking as I
hoped for but it works. Basically, I pressed the lights tight to the body and tightened up the clamps. I may put a spot of silicon on the back to
make sure that they don't slip off from vibration.
